Work Experience

Devops Engineer at Hive June 2018 - July 2019

AWS - Managed over 20 EC2 instances. Used Route 53 to manage multiple DNS zones in conjunction with Cloudfront. Managed production/staging CDN and deployed multiple frontend Cloudfront distributions along with corresponding s3 buckets.

Openstack - Successfully migrated VMs from AWS EC2 into openstack to reduce cost and integrated DNS dashboard into openstack to replaced route 53 for internal DNS usage.

Jenkins - Built multiple CI/CD pipelines for staging and production deployments. Successfully utilized Chef to bring up a new Jenkins instance and to manage plugins/versions and credentials.

Linux Admin - Managed over 200 servers - running ceph, mesosphere, openstack, postgres, scylla, redis and RabbitMQ across 4 data centers. Hardware maintenance as well as system trouble-shooting were performed on a regular basis.

Firewall - Performed security audits to eliminate blanket policies and significantly limit outbound connections. Acted as both the “Key Master” and “Gatekeeper” for any new firewall policies.

Mesosphere - Used the mesos platform and marathon framework to deploy staging and production backend services.

Docker - Successfully converted all engineers to adopt a docker-only mentality and dockerize all services to be deployed in a docker orchestration system - mesos/marathon. Maintained docker private registries for internal use.

Chef - Utilized the chef server for package management on Ubuntu servers and user privileges - Infrastructure as code practice.

Database - Performed maintenance for Postgres/Scylla/Redis/RabbitMQ. Created instances of staging environment databases in openstack as well as user privileges and schemas/queues/tables using Chef.

Ceph - Re-rolled one of the production Ceph cluster. Performed maintenance on multiple Ceph clusters. Utilized object storage as well as block storage to manage over 2 petabytes of data.
